The Eastern Cape is home to many Angora goat farms and is the leading world producer of high-quality Merino wool and Mohair fibres. The province accounts for over 50% of global mohair production, with Nelson Mandela Bay being a major contributor. Mainly exported to 3 regions of the world: 69% to Asia, China; 27% to EU, Germany and Bulgaria and 1.2% to Africa, Egypt. The region’s favourable climate and fertile soil create ideal conditions for the cultivation of a variety of citrus fruits, further enhancing its agricultural diversity and economic significance.
